Believe it or not, the time to start thinking about and planning for this year’s North American KCON conventions is upon us.
KCON, the world’s largest Korean culture and K-Pop music festival, has recently announced they will be expanding their already extensive global convention schedule by adding another North American convention to their lineup this spring. Scheduled to take place at the Mexico City Arena, located in the Azcapotzalco neighborhood, on March 17-18, KCON Mexico will be the first KCON to be held in Latin America.
As exciting as it is to have KCON coming to Mexico this spring, it’s the steadily growing lineup of artists appearing at this convention that has set fans’ hearts aflutter. With Monsta X announcing their appearance first, rookie group Astro, soon followed. Now, it’s been announced that BTS will be joining this mega line-up.
Debuting in 2013 with the song “No More Dream”, Bangtan Sonyeondan, BTS, has since captured the hearts of fans the world-over with their honest, hard-hitting lyrics and powerful performances. Ranking at #26 on the Billboard 200 with their most recent album, “WINGS”, the group has set new records for Korean artists on a global scale. Wining several notable awards last year alone, including the MelOn Music Awards “Album of the Year” and the Mnet Asian Music Awards “Artist of the Year,” BTS is gearing up for a new world tour, “2017 BTS Live Trilogy Episode III: The Wings Tour” with the first concert being held in Seoul, Korea on February 18.
Featuring two full days of convention programming covering every aspect of Korean culture, including K-beauty, Korean food, K-dramas, Korean film and more, KCON 2017 Mexico will also include artist meet and greets, during which fans will be able to come face to face with some of their favorite artists. As always, each day will close with a star-studded concert featuring some of the top artists in K-Pop.
Tickets for KCON 2017 Mexico go on sale February 7 and will range from $50-$230 USD.
