FRIDAY NIGHT DRAMA: Emergency Couple

opening titleThis week brought with it the end of TvN’s medical romantic dramedy, Emergency Couple, which means that now is the perfect time to begin your weekend K-drama marathon. Woo-hoo!

and so it beginsHaving just wrapped up a Hallyu Zombie Drama Review of Emergency Couple I could go on for hours about all of the ups and downs of this particular drama but since I’ve already done that, I’ll keep this short. While this drama and I got off on Oh Jin Hee looks at Oh Chang Minthe wrong foot, as the story progressed, it and the characters began to grown on me and while there were still plenty of times when I cried, “What the heck?” all in all, it was a decent drama and it ended well enough that I walked away feeling satisfied.

Gook Chun Soo - So whatIf you’re looking for an intense medical drama, heavy of the medical, Emergency Couple is not it! It’s full of so many medical absurdities it borders on ridiculous but if you’re okay with that and are more interested in a cute-ish love-story, then you’ll probably enjoy this drama. Choi Jin Hyuk (Oh Chang Min) and Song Ji Hyo (Oh Jin Hee) have great on-screen chemistry as do Song Ji Hyo and Lee Pil Mo Im Young Kyu - So this is the power of love(Dr. Gook), which means there’s a good chance you’ll suffer from some major second-lead-syndrome at some point but that just makes this drama even better! Choi Yeo Jin (Dr. Shim) and Yoon Jong Hoon (Im Yong Kyu) are fantastic supporting actors as well which makes Emergency Couple a treat to watch, so even if the plot goes wonky at times, there’s always at least one character that will keep you coming back for more.

cute kiss

While Emergency Couple will probably never make my list of “favorite” dramas, it’s still worthy of your time and if you’re at all like me, you’ll walk away from this one with a smile.
