Hallyu Zombie Drama Review: Bride of the Century Episodes 9-10 (1/2)

Doo Rim and Kang Ju were in the middle of the worst break up at the beginning of this week’s episodes. Doo Rim is still determined to be with Kang Ju, but he doesn’t want to lose her and resists at every turn. Doo Rim ends up going to Yi Kyung’s mother, Ma Jae Ran, asking that if she can change Kang Ju’s mind about marriage can she be the one to actually stay with Kang Ju. The deal is struck as both sides agree.

Kang Ju also changes his mind about marriage based on Doo Rim’s determination and craziness. In one scene she is trying to prove her determination to him and she runs out in front of oncoming traffic to make her point. Kang Ju eventually tells his father that he’s going to marry her and they do! The wedding was extremely simple and very true to their relationship. There didn’t need to be any fluff or glitter to express their feelings, giving it a very authentic feel.

After week’s over wondering what Joo Shin, our resident ghost, was actually up to we have finally learned where she stands. She is the proctor of the most daunting test in k-drama existence and it’s all just a test a faith. Doo Rim was confronted by Joo Shin and asked if she would still choose Kang Ju even if it meant she would die. Doo Rim has already decided to do anything for Kang Ju, so she states she’s willing to do anything for Kang Ju and passes with flying colors.

Doo Rim still has to make good on the Joo Shin’s conditions of staying with Kang Ju. She has to tell him the truth about who she is, but she is essentially kidnapped by Ma Jae Ran and her lackeys because she naively thought an evil woman would actually grant her end of their deal. I have a hard time believing that Doo Rim is that naive, but that indeed seems to be the case here as she was driven off to whatever fate Eun Jung has in store for her.
