K-POP ATE HER BRAIN: CROSS GENE “Noona You”

1

I’m sure most of you know CROSS GENE made their comeback last week with a catchy little ditty called, “Noona, You” (누나 너 말야). I’m also sure most of you know what I’m about to say about this rather fabulous song because you’re saying it with me. If you haven’t a clue where I’m going with this, let me just say it starts with something that goes a lot like this…

ASDFGHJKL!!!!!

8SERIOUSLY CROSS GENE!?! ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOUR NOON FANS AT ONCE!?! WHAT THE FLIP WERE YOU THINKING, RELEASING A SONG LIKE THIS!?!  DON’T YOU KNOW WHAT SONGS LIKE THIS DO TO YOUR POOR, FRAGILE, NOONA FANS!?! WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO US!?! WHY DO I LOVE YOU FOR DOING THIS TO US!? WHY CAN’T YOU JUST STOP ALREADY!?!

7*But please don’t actually stop because there aren’t enough noona songs out there and you’ve just made every single one of us happier than we’ve ever been and we’re singing your praises for that while at the same time cursing your for making our hearts stop… Sorry, we’re complicated people, us noonas, but we love you!*

4Yeah… That pretty well sums up how I feel about CROSS GENE and their noona-killing new song and maybe I’m the only one out there who feels this way. Which is fine. But somehow, I just don’t think I am. I know there are more noona fans out there, just like me, who are melting at the lyrics of this song because honestly, we all have this secret desire to be crushed on by some cute boy who’s way younger than us. 5Not because we’re creepy but because we’re older and we feel the cruelty of time working on us and we spend our days swamped with work and housework and kids and life in general and most of the time we feel about as attractive as a toad and we want someone around, if only for a minute, to make us feel like we’re the young, beautiful, goddesses our brain tells us we are even when the mirror says otherwise.

10So allow me this one brief moment to believe the CROSS GENE boys are singing me about me and then I’ll go back to the world of dirty diapers and cranky kids and the mountain of laundry that refuses to disappear and the pile of dishes that are beckoning me as I sit here writing this post and the eternal exhaustion that keeps me in a constant state of zombie-hood.

*plays song again*

Oh  CROSS GENE, thank you for making this song a part of your new album! *sighs happily*  You’ve just made my day!
