SECONDS, ANYONE?

David the cutie

As you may or may not know, I recently had an article of mine published on KCON’s blog and since it’s been well over a week now since it originally went up, I decided it was time to add it here as well. So, just in case you missed it, here’s my quick look at several of the different types of second leads found in K-Dramas.  Enjoy!

young do breaks my heart

Have you ever found yourself falling for a K-drama second lead? Perhaps you’ve come across a second so annoying you wished something catastrophic would happen, just so he/she would back off and leave the poor lead alone. For some mysterious reason, K-drama seconds have the ability to invoke feelings just as strong as their leading counterparts. Though it may be impossible to understand why we feel so strongly about K-drama seconds, it is possible to categorize them, so here’s a quick look at six types of K-drama seconds… Continue reading “SECONDS, ANYONE?”

HALLYU ZOMBIE DRAMA REVIEW: Bride of the Century Episodes 13-14 (1/2)

finally show your true colorsIt never fails with this drama, just when I think I’ve got this drama all figured out… WHAM! Something comes up, out of nowhere, and throws a great-big-giant monkey wrench into all of my well-thought-out ideas and I’m left wondering just what the heck is going on… Which is probably why I love Bride of the Century  as much as I do. Just when you think it’s going to become a more typical (and therefore predictable drama) it surprises you by becoming something so much more than you expected. HALLYU ZOMBIE DRAMA REVIEW: Bride of the Century Episodes 11-12 (2/2)

service is terrible

Tanya: I’m seriously disappointed in ALL of the characters in Bride of the Century this week. I mean, what is this?! Let’s-go-back-to-middle-school-time? How can Doo Rim makes everything her fault and then get angry when Kang Ju blames her? And what is with this childish revenge, Kang Ju? Seriously.

Shai: This week was rather eventful with the truth coming out about the curse and all. What did you think about that?
Tanya: I am happy it actually ended up being a test, but that makes you think of the level of crazy that these women have to be every time the first wife has actually died. Doo Rim and Kang Ju were in the middle of the worst break up at the beginning of this week’s episodes. Doo Rim is still determined to be with Kang Ju, but he doesn’t want to lose her and resists at every turn. Doo Rim ends up going to Yi Kyung’s mother, Ma Jae Ran, asking that if she can change Kang Ju’s mind about marriage can she be the one to actually stay with Kang Ju. The deal is struck as both sides agree. Continue reading “Hallyu Zombie Drama Review: Bride of the Century Episodes 9-10 (1/2)”

the ringZombie: So jumping right into this week’s discussion… What did you two think of Yi Hyun’s sudden proposal to Doo Rim? Is it just me or was that a little out of nowhere?

Tanya: It seemed very rushed and honestly, there is no way that was the right time for it. I get he doesn’t want to lose her, but they have no other relationship other than her pretending to be his sister. That doesn’t really equate to marriage for me.
