ZOMBIE’S DRAMA REVIEW: Oh My Venus Episodes 11-12

Merry Christmas

Oh no no no no no! This is not how things were supposed to go this week! It’s Christmas for goodness sake! We’re supposed to have happy times and romantic times and peace on earth and goodwill toward men! Not sadness and horror and OH MY GOSH! WHY MUST WE BE TORTURED LIKE THIS!?! ZOMBIE’S DRAMA REVIEW: Oh My Venus Episodes 7-8

snuggles

oh man. Oh man. Oh Man! OH MAN! OOOOHHHHHH MAAAAAAAANNNNNN!!!!! What the heck is this show doing to me!?! There’s so much going on my poor emotional self just can’t deal with all of it at once! I just spent the last two hours laughing, crying and squeeing (sometimes all at the same time) so much I’ve been reduced to a hot flustered mess! Luckily even in all my flusterment I think I can pull myself together to talk about these next two episodes. (Here’s hoping anyway!) ZOMBIE’S DRAMA REVIEW: Oh My Venus Episodes 5-6

Holy Cripes!

OH MY GOSH I’M SO IN LOVE WITH THIS DRAMA I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF I’VE FORGOTTEN HOW TO THINK AND BREATHE AND USE ALL FORMS OF SENTENCE STRUCTURE AND PUNCTUATION I’M JUST A GREAT BIG FLIPPING MESS OF FEELS SQUEALS AND SWOONS AAAAUUUUUGGGGGHHHHH! Well, now that I’ve remembered where the punctuation keys are on my keyboard, let’s dive into these next two episodes, shall we?

smirky

OH DEAR SWEET SMIRKING FLYING MONKEY BABIES! MY HEART! IT’S GONE BERSERK!

call the police

Oops! I had a sudden spazz attack. Sorry about that. I just can’t seem to help myself. Every time I think about Young Ho, I have a sort of breakdown. My mind goes all fuzzy and I start smiling like an idiot and… Ugh! I just don’t know what I’m going to do with myself! All I wanted to do was talk about where we left off last week, with that uber-creepy stalker forcing his way into Joo Eun’s house. We all knew Young Ho was going to come to Joo Eun’s rescue and we were so right. I whooped my way through those first couple of minutes of episode 5. I loved the way Young Ho swooped in and took that creeper out without even batting an eye. He was so cool about it! Young Ho could have put that creeper into traction without even breaking a sweat but he didn’t. Instead he did just enough to subdue the creep and keep Joo Eun safe and then he tried to stand up for her at the police station. *sigh* What a hero!

lamest cops ever

It’s sad that the police did absolutely nothing about Joo Eun’s case. I mean I guess they kind of have a point… No, you know what? I’m not going to even attempt to see where the police are coming from on this one. Joo Eun had a creepy dude break into her house and the police aren’t going to do anything about it!?! What the heck is wrong with these people!?! Does the poor woman have to be murdered before anyone in authority takes the threat of this creeper seriously? I can’t say much for Woo Sik but at least he realizes having this creepy guy around isn’t good and he does what he feels is necessary to ensure Joo Eun’s safety. Of course that plan backfires in the worst way possible and Woo Sik finds himself charged with assault but hey, at least he tried? Right?

walk away dork boy

Okay, no. Not right. Even with Woo Sik’s attempt to stick up for Joo Eun, he doesn’t deserve the praise. When it comes to the way he’s treated Joo Eun, he’s been a total jerk and he needs to remember that he’s the one who cut ties with her so he needs to just walk away. I’m happy Joo Eun told him as much after their dealy-o at the police station. It’s sad Woo Sik can’t see the real Joo Eun anymore. I’d like to believe that at one point in time he could and that’s why he fell in love with her, but now all he sees is this “unattractive fat girl” and that’s just sad. Joo Eun was right to ask Woo Sik what’s changed over the past 15 years. Somewhere along the way, he lost sight of what was truly important and that’s why their relationship failed. Since he was the one to break things off, he needs to let go of the past and move on. He can’t keep hovering around Joo Eun like this. It’s isn’t healthy for either of them.

i friggin love jiu jitsu

Now Young Ho, on the other hand, can do all the hovering he wants! He’s actually a master hoverer. The hovering Grand Master, if you will, and I absolutely love him for that. OH. MY. WORD. The chemistry between Young Ho and Joo Eun is unbelievable! I can’t remember the last time I watched a drama couple with this many sparks between them. HOLY FLIP! If these two aren’t careful they’re going to spontaneously combust! Though maybe that’s what happened in this last episode… OH JEEZ! There’s nothing better than a kiss under an umbrella on a dark and rainy night. Unless, of course, it’s an accidental kiss during jiu jitsu practice… hehehe Out of all the accidental kisses in the world, this may be one of my favorite. Mostly because the reaction of both Young Ho and Joo Eun afterwards was so totally adorable. Neither one of them could get that kiss out of their heads and the fact they were both so flustered revealed so much about their underlying feelings. As much as Young Ho tries to pretend to be disgusted by Joo Eun’s appearance, he’s not fooling anyone, least of all himself.

picking and nagging

Of course Joo Eun isn’t any different. She tries to pretend she’s completely unflustered by Young Ho’s perfectly sculpted body and ridiculous good looks but she’s not. She’s also not at all jealous of Anna Sue and the supposed scandalous relationship between her and John Kim. *ahem* I loved how the green-eyed monster of jealousy reared its ugly head while Young Ho was away. (Not that Young Ho was any different, imagining Joo Eun getting a massage from a hulky masseuse and getting all flustered… Bwahahaha!) I also loved how Young Ho kept egging Joo Eun on, while he was away, just because he liked knowing she was jealous. Oh those two! They pick on each other and nag each other and pester each other to no end. They’re like a couple of school kids who like each other but aren’t really sure how to deal with their feelings! Or they were until Young Ho decided he’d had enough of this childishness and decided to take action. WHOA HO THERE YOUNG HO! WAY TO GO! (Have I mentioned how much I love a man who wastes no time in getting to the point?) It would seem Young Ho found himself sucked into Joo Eun’s adorable dimples and he couldn’t escape so he just decided to go with it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone so completely mesmerized by dimples before but I’m certainly not going to complain! Just watching Young Ho poke those dimples made my heart do the funniest things. I think at one point, I almost passed out. Or maybe that was when Young Ho smiled… *swoon*

what a family

While there was a whole lot of adorable going on between Young Ho and Joo Eun, there were also quite a few of my previous questions answered, namely those concering Young Ho’s seemingly dysfunctional family. Apparently Young Ho’s mom was the daughter of the cold-hearted grandmother, which means his dad isn’t actually related to that family by blood, just a marriage that ended with the death of Young Ho’s mom. So, as far as I can tell, Young Ho’s dad, Kim Sung Chul, was kept around because his son is the only blood-relative and therefore the sole heir to the family fortune/company/etc. It doesn’t seem to me that the grandma wants anything to do with Sung Chul, which is why she married him off to his current wife, Choi Hye Ran. I guess Grandma decided Sung Chul was too miserable and lonely without a wife so she married him off to someone I presume was beneficial to the company. It doesn’t seem like there’s much affection between Sung Chul and Hye Ran so it had to be a marriage of convenience but they still managed to have a son, which I think was probably the result of Hye Ran’s annoying brother’s nagging. Obviously this brother wants Hye Ran’s son to take over the company because that would be good for him but Grandma wants nothing to do with that nonsense and she’s made sure Hye Ran doesn’t get any delusions of grandeur when it comes to her son.

a present for you

Joo Eun was right when she told Young Ho there are times when he seems to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders. She can see that Young Ho is actually very lonely and her gift to him, a day to taste the sweet things in life, was, without a doubt, the best gift she could have ever given him. Obviously he was quite moved by such a gift as that rather unexpected (but not really all that unexpected) kiss followed. I think this is probably the first time in his life (at least that he can remember) he’s had someone around who genuinely cares for him. Yes, he has Joon Sung and Ji Woong but that sort of brotherly love and camaraderie isn’t the same as having someone so in-tune to your feelings and needs that they go out of their way to help lift your burdens and bring you joy. Young Ho needs Joo Eun as much, if not more, than Joo Eun needs Young Ho and I’m happy they’re well on their way to realizing that. The question is, where will things go from here? Ooooooohhhhh! I can’t wait to find out!!! EEEP!

because i can

So tell me, what did you think of these next two episodes? Did you love them as much as I did? Did you heart flutter as many times as mine? Did you sometimes forget to breathe or was that just me? Did you have a favorite moment? Am I the only one falling head-over-heels for Young Ho? Did you cry when Joon Sung cut off all his hair? Do you think he’s come to Korea to look for his birth parents? Will he eventually save his mom from her abusive husband? Do you think all his scars are from boxing or because he was beaten as a child? Oh, there are so many more questions I could ask but I really should top talking now… Writing??? Spazzing??? (That’s probably more like it…) Anyhoo… I’m gonna sign off here but you know I always love hearing from you so be sure to let me know what you’re thinking by leaving me a comment below!

ZOMBIE’S DRAMA REVIEW: Oh My Venus Episodes 1-2

in the rain

After waiting for what feels like forever, So Ji Sub and Shin Min Ah‘s new drama, Oh My Venus, has finally started airing and since I can’t say no to anything with So Ji Sub in it, I had to start watching it. Of course it took all of 2 seconds of So Ji Sub screen time to convince me I wanted to keep watching this drama but I wasn’t quite as convinced it was one I wanted to review. And yet, here I sit, writing this first review which means something had to have happened along the way to convince me this was one worth my time. The question is, what was it?
