The Zebussie Drama Review: Iron Man Episodes 14-15 (2/2)

Blade.Man.E15.141030.HDTV.H264.720p-LIMO[13-06-58]

Zombie: So it seems all my worst fears came true this week. Tae Hee decided she didn’t want to be dead so now she’s back and Se Dong has once again proven herself to be the most selfless, kind and understanding human being on the face of the planet. Seriously, this girl needs to be given a medal or something because she’s just too good, especially to people who don’t deserve her kindness. She makes me feel like such a loser.

DD: I think we all had a slight suspicion that Tae Hee was going to make an appearance. Not only because the writer had been dropping not-so-discreet hints, but also because we had WAY too much time left over. As much as I was hoping we would spend the rest of this series being spoiled with Hong Bin/Se Dong romance, Hong Bin/Chang cuteness, and more dwarves scenes, I knew that would be too much to ask from the dramaverse. What sucks about all this is that I am entirely uninterested in Tae Hee! Maybe her appearance had been built up a little too much or maybe it’s because when she finally shows up she’s not exactly the greatest person. Maybe we’ve been spoiled by Se Dong?

Blade.Man.E14.141029.HDTV.H264.720p-LIMO[09-33-38]Zombie: That must be it because I feel nothing for Tae Hee, at all. Maybe I’m just a cruel jerk but I don’t care that she’s sick and suffering, I don’t care that she left Chang and Hong Bin because she thought she was doing them a favor, I don’t care that she’s alive, I don’t care that mysterious people are after her… Basically, I don’t care about her at all, so I’m really wondering why it was decided that she needed to come back. I’m hoping there’s some sort of point to her return because if it’s only to prove Se Dong’s goodness and provide yet another obstacle for Se Dong and Hong Bin to overcome, I have to have some choice words with the drama gods. Honestly, the only thing I’m curious about, when it comes to Tae Hee, is why the heck is Madame Yoon so obsessed with her? I don’t get it.

DD: If you’re a cruel jerk for having those feelings, then so am I. You know what? I think our feelings are warranted. How dare Tae Hee not only reappear but hide her existence from the father of her child leaving him with so many questions and a son he had no idea existed until now. THEN she expects Se Dong to promise to keep her existence hidden from Hong Bin! The nerve! You’re asking the woman who’s involved with Hong Bin to lie to him all because you made this decision for everyone that cared about you? I was so glad that Se Dong told Hong Bin everything and even brought him to Tae Hee. That needed to end immediately. As far as Madame Yoon is concerned, I’m sure she’s worried Tae Hee will reveal all that happened all those years ago. Drama gods forbid anyone else know how truly crazy she is.

Blade.Man.E14.141029.HDTV.H264.720p-LIMO[09-10-53]Zombie: I’m pretty sure at least Hong Joo’s mom knows how crazy Madame Yoon is, especially after their cat-fight. Goodness! Madame Yoon gets scarier by the episode! I’m really kind of expecting her to transform into some sort of monster before the end and then she and Hong Bin will go at it like some crazy Godzilla vs. Mothra monster battle. Wouldn’t that be something? Ha!

DD: Haha. I’d be okay with that. I don’t really root for Hong Joo’s mom but even I’ll admit she needs some kind of win. Madame Yoon has kicked her ass a few too many times for my taste. I’m not saying Hong Joon’s mom is on her best behavior when she comes face-to-face with Madame Yoon, but she’s certainly been beat up plenty of times. As much as I would like to see a Monster Hong Bin/ Monster Madame Yoon showdown, I think the real showdown needs to be between Madame Yoon and Jang Won. He seems to be the only one who can keep her in line. Although it seems he has failed to do that over the years. But first, can someone please take care of the gangster guy? He’s so annoying!

Zombie: No kidding! I just wanna slug him. He’s such a creeper and really, he has no point. I know he’s supposed to be Madame Yoon’s henchman or something but he’s so worthless, she ends up doing everything herself anyway.

Blade.Man.E15.141030.HDTV.H264.720p-LIMO[12-06-26]DD: You know what they say: If you want a evil job done right, you have to do it yourself. Speaking of evil, I found it interesting watching Hong Bin interact with his dad this week. He’s not sprouting blades but he was forced to confront some realities. As much as he hates his dad, he does seem to have the same tendencies. That tendency being throwing money at a problem. Granted, he can find comfort in knowing he is not his father, but a lot of that we can thank Se Dong for. I mean, I’ve never seen Jang Won so excited to do a good deed. Which, by the way, some of favorite scenes are when Hong Bin does good deeds and demands a hug from Se Dong. I’ve officially started yelling, “Hug me!” when I do good things in real life. It’s a problem.

Zombie: That’s too funny because I’ve started doing the same thing! I can’t help it! It’s just too much fun, walking around, demanding hugs. I like hugs! I also liked watching Hong Bin and Jang Won interact this week. Wowzers! Those two have come a long way. Without a doubt, my favorite part was when Jang Won finally told Hong Bin why he had such a problem with Tae Hee. It wasn’t because of her lack of status or her family connections or whatever, it was because she stole Hong Bin from him. I cheered and cried when Jang Won finally admitted his feelings for his son. Telling Hong Bin that he’s always been the most precious thing in his life is going to do wonders for their relationship and I’m so happy to see that because there’s a whole lot of healing that needs to be going on and it had to start somewhere. Thank the drama gods some things are actually going right!

Blade.Man.E15.141030.HDTV.H264.720p-LIMO[11-11-56]

DD: This show is really great when it comes to exploring healing. As much as I hate that Tae Hee is back, I understand why. That moment where she finally came face-to-face with Hong Bin was awesome. Not only because we had waited so long for it, but also because Hong Bin had a moment where he could have told her that he still loved her and that the chance for them to be a family was still an option. Although, he didn’t. That realization he had that Se Dong was the person (and the life) he wanted was so important. All the questions and lingering feelings he had for Tae Hee were finally put to rest. Of course this doesn’t mean she’s still not a factor. I mean, she’s Chang’s mom and she has big, mean men kidnapping her! Which, WHAT?! How did we get to kidnapping?!

Blade.Man.E15.141030.HDTV.H264.720p-LIMO[12-30-51]

Zombie: I wish I knew! I’m guessing they were sent by Madame Yoon but again… Why??? I do agree with you on the amazingness of that Hong Bin/Tae Hee moment. I loved the way he almost gave in to his impulsive emotions of the moment but then realized that everything he ever wanted wasn’t going to be found with Tae Hee but rather Se Dong. Add to that, the honesty that Hong Bin and Se Dong have going on and I’m just over-the-moon about these two. I couldn’t ask for a more perfect OTP and I’m really hoping that this sudden kidnapping doesn’t screw things up. I know Hong Bin can’t help but be the hero but what if his heroic actions lead to Se Dong’s demise. I suppose that’s going a bit far, seeing as how these two have already been through so much but something’s got me worried, especially now that Se Dong’s gone and passed out. I have no idea what that’s all about but I have a feeling it’s not going to be good.

DD: Ugh, it’s never good. As much as I love this show, I can confidently say this show excels at continuing to give me anxiety. Mainly because it teases us by threatening all the the things we love about this show. I just hope that everyone finds some way to live together in peace, Hong Bin and Se Dong will finally be able to be together without anything trying to interfere, and Hong Joo finally get a girlfriend who’s his own age! I love him but he seriously needs one. The same goes for Seung Hwan.

Blade.Man.E15.141030.HDTV.H264.720p-LIMO[13-05-57]

Zombie: He really does! I’d love for him to be thrown a token girl by the end, just so he can have his own version of “happily ever after”. In the meantime, I’m going to be forming all kinds of theories as to why Se Dong has suddenly collapsed and they range anywhere from the understandable exhaustion she’s been suffering from as she deals with all of this crazy, to something so far out there I’m not even sure I can explain it. Let’s just say it borders on the land of crazy, where supernatural beings and the one they love are so connected that one can’t survive without the other, so if Hong Bin starts to waver towards Tae Hee, Se Dong is hosed. Man I hope that turns out to be nothing more than my over-active imagination getting the better of me!

DD: Be careful. Drama theory brainfreeze is a thing and with this show it can easily happen. The most I’m asking for is a happy ending which I believe we’ll get. Hell, we deserve it.

Zombie: I can’t disagree with you there! After all this drama has put us through, a happy ending had better be waiting for us or there will be words… Many, many, many choice words!

  1. I am sure the kidnapping was orchestrated by Madame Yoon – she wants Tae Hee silenced. I’m hoping that once the kidnappers are beaten senseless by Secretary Ko that the truth we emerge that it was Madame Yoon and not Hong Bin’s dad who requested the beating of Tae Hee and that as a result the family can become more united.

I want this to wrap up quickly with a happy ending!! I am getting anxious, but I’m enjoying the ride.

  2. I think the top moment was when Daddy Joo opened up to Hong Bin and told him why he disliked Tae Hee, it really threw Hong Bin for a loop and it took him a minute to process that information. It makes sense why Daddy Joo would say it. When Hong Bin was dating Tae Hee, he always had to choose between her and his family so he was preparing to run away with her. With Se Dong, he no longer has no make that choice and she’s actually aided in him getting along with his father. She even got Daddy Joo to apologize and make some changes when it came to his employees & how he handled accidents on the job. She’s the one who had him sent to the hospital when she realized he was sick, Daddy Joo knows she’s not out to steal his son away. He’s seeing how much good she’s doing for his family and he’s okay with that.
Also, remember he lost his first wife, whom he still misses, so losing Hong Bin would be like losing her all over again.

    1. I think you’re totally right and I really think this whole healing process between Hong Bin and Jang Won is a big part of this story, as it’s really all about Hong Bin’s journey towards healing. There could never be real healing if things between Hong Bin and Jang Won stayed as poisonous as they were when this story began. I think that, with time, Jang Won will come to accept Se Dong because, as you said, she’s bringing this family together, not tearing them apart. If he can have Hong Bin around and if they can find some sort of friendly father-son relationship, Jang Won will have no reason to reject Se Dong which means the Joo family may finally come to find peace. (As long as crazy mom stays out of the way.) It makes sense that Jang Won would treasure Hong Bin as much as he does, seeing as how he’s the only connection he has with his first wife and I’m so beyond happy that Jang Won finally told as much to Hong Bin. It was seriously the highlight of this week’s episodes… At least for me.
