Opening “Jackpot” with a jazzy/swing flourish made me giddy as this recent wave of speak-easy-esque tunes in K-Pop has struck a chord with my inner flapper girl but it didn’t take long for me to realize “Jackpot” was not your typical song.
Combining that jazzy/swing feel with Zico’s rapping and a rocky-pop that screams Block B, “Jackpot” takes you through more ups, downs, twists and turns than a carni ride; which makes me think the MV for “Jackpot” was very well planned a the circus setting is absolutely perfect for this song.
If there’s one thing I love about Block B, it’s how creative they are with their music videos. Each and every one of Block B’s music videos has a strong concept behind them and I love the way they’re executed. There’s just something in all of the crazy that is a Block B MV that captivates me and “Jackpot” is no different. Of course, if crazy awesome costumes, bright colors, creepy clowns and a jaw-dropping eye-makeup/contact lens combo that could knock you out of your seat aren’t your thing, you’re probably not going to enjoy this particular MV but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the song. It’s a super fun song and the “la la-la lalala” part is so ridiculously catchy, you’ll find yourself singing it well after the song is over.
