You know, when you’ve got a ton of good music released all in the same week, picking a Tune of the Week becomes insanely difficult. That being said, I had a really hard time choosing this week’s Tune but after spending a bit too much time watching videos (and with a little help from my friends), I was finally able to narrow my list of favorites down to three and from there it didn’t take much to convince me that HISTORY’s “Might Just Die” deserves the title of Tune of the Week.
It’s been almost a year since HISTORY made a comeback and I have to say, I’m liking the way they’ve decided to return. Dropping the synth-y pop sound that made “Psycho” so dang catchy, History has opted for an edgier, string-laced EDM sound which has me going weak in the knees. (Apparently edgy is one of my weaknesses…)
The video for “Just Might Die” is everything you could ever want a music video to be. Heavily artistic and incredibly dramatic, the heartbreak of the lyrics is evident in every scene and the cuts between the video’s story and the boys’ dancing are just enough to have you begging for a dance version of this video in the very near future. (Oh c’mon! You can’t tell me you aren’t just as excited as I am about seeing this dance in all of its unedited glory. I mean did you even watch this video!?! *ahem* Yeah, that’s what I thought!)
While HISTORY has been around for a couple of years now they’ve, up to this point anyway, stayed fairly low under the radar but I hope that with this comeback, they start garnering some positive attention. I know if they keep releasing songs like this one, they’re going to make quite an impact on my bias list. It’s the dark and edgy that gets me every. stinking. time.
So what do you think of HISTORY’s latest comeback? Do you like it? Do you hate it? You know I always love hearing from you so be sure to let me know what you’re thinking in the comments below!
