TUNE OF THE WEEK: Jung Yong Hwa “Mileage”

You know, I spent a lot of time this week watching music videos, looking for the perfect song to feature as this week’s tune but I eventually came to the conclusion that no matter how many videos I watch, none of them will make me love them the way Yong Hwa’s “Mileage” does.

Now I know what you’re thinking, I’m too much of a Yong Hwa fangirl to come to any other conclusion and you know what? You’re right! I’ve loved Yong Hwa for too long to pass up on a chance to feature his debut as a solo artist so I’m gonna take it and really, can you blame me? “Mileage” is such a groovy little ditty, combining the smooth vocals of Yong Hwa with the rapping of YDG, that I can’t help but love it. It’s the type of song that instantly brightens my day and lifts my spirits and I can’t listen to it without cracking a smile. Though that may be because I can’t listen to Yong Hwa’s voice without going weak in the knees. I can’t help myself, you know? I fall completely to pieces every time he sings! *siiiggghhh*

If the song by itself wasn’t enough to make you smile, the video just might do the trick. It’s such a fun, quirky video, full of Yong Hwa being ridiculously handsome and YDG being absolutely hilarious. I love the lightheartedness of this video as it gives us glimpse at a side of Yong Hwa we rarely get to see. Who knew the leader of CNBLUE was such a hoot? Well, okay, every BOICE in the world knows that but for those unfamiliar with the band, seeing this “new” side of Yong Hwa is a real treat.

I think what makes this video even more fun is being able to watch Yong Hwa and YDG interact in a different setting. I absolutely loved them in The Three Musketeers and I can’t help but smile as I watch them acting together in this funny little video. If nothing else, it makes me ridiculously excited as I wait for Season Two of The Three Musketeers to begin airing in March. Eeep! I can’t wait!

If you ask me, “Mileage” is only a teaser of greater things to come as Yong Hwa’s solo album, One Fine Day, is slated for release on January 20. Collaborating with Yoon Do Hyun, Verbal Jint, JJ Lin, as well as YDG, One Fine Day is certainly an album to look forward to and personally, I can’t wait to get my hands on it. Augh! Why does next Tuesday feel so far away!?!
