TUNE OF THE WEEK: Jung Yong Hwa x Sunwoo Jung “Hello”

2

I’ve been seeing teasers for this week’s “Tune” for a while now and I’ve been intrigued by the idea of a Yong Hwa x Sunwoo pairing. Now that “Hello” is out, I can say with absolute certainty that this was a very good idea.

While I’m not always a fan of the sad undertones of a winter ballad, I am a fan of good music which is why I’m loving “Hello” as much as I am. Sunwoo Jung’s voice is incredible and it pairs so well with Yong Hwa’s it makes me want to cry and melt all at the same time. Maybe this is why ballads are so popular during the winter months… It may be cold outside but the sweet sounds of good music chases away the cold as it melts the heart… Hmm…

The video for “Hello” is very simplistic but I think that’s the way it should be with a song such as this. There’s no need for flashy costumes and elaborate sets when you’ve got a song that reminisces over all the warm memories that came with being in love. I do like how the lighting was used in the video, the blue giving things a colder feel while the reds and oranges created feelings of warmth. It was all done very well which is good since a song as lovely as “Hello” deserves an equally lovely video.

Of course my love of “Hello” could very well stem from my undying love of Jung Yong Hwa but I think (at least this time) there’s more to it than that. It really is quite a lovely song and it seems to perfectly fit this time of year. As much as I hate to admit it, there’s a valid reason for releasing sad winter-y ballads… I mean you’ve got to have something playing in the background while you curl up in front of the fire with your favorite Jane Austen novel and an unlimited supply of chocolate bonbons, right?

  1. I absolutely love this song, it’s such a soothing song and sung by 2 amazing artists. He really amazes me each time he releases a new song as this is something so different from all his other compositions and I love it. You should also check out the other collaboration with SWJA ‘Fireworks’. Both of them sound amazing there as well.
