I know I’m a day late with this one but I spent all day yesterday running around like a headless chicken and I barely had time to breathe, let alone write. To top it all off I’m sick which means I’m writing through medicine clouded brain so if this post is wonky I apologize in advance. Medicine and I do NOT mix.
Anyway, despite the insanity of my world I did manage to find a particularly catchy tune to feature this week, Kisum’s latest single, “Love Talk.” Teaming up with MAMAMOO’S Hwasa the two make an adorably perfect pair of friends who spend their time together talking about all the worries that come with liking a certain boy. Watching these two together makes me wish I could go grab my dearest friends and spend a day hanging out on the beach. *sobs* Why are my friends all so far away!?! (Don’t worry, I’ll be okay. Really. I will…)
The song is such a great mix of rap and swing-y pop, I fell in love with it immediately. Hwasa’s voice kills me and Kisum’s rap is so sweet and natural and together these two make such a perfect pair I don’t know how anyone could not like this song. I think it’s absolutely perfect. I also love the fact it’s a “fall” song and yet it doesn’t give in to any of the typical fall tropes. (Is that the right way to say this???) What I mean is the song is bright and chipper and the video is sunny and full of vivid color, all of which goes against the typical slower, darker, more brooding types of songs and videos that are released this time of year. It’s this difference that makes “Love Talk” stand out as something special and I, for one, love it.
So tell me, what do you think of Kisum’s latest track? How does it compare to her other work? What would you like to see from Kisum in the future? You know I always love hearing from you so be sure to let me know what you’re thinking by leaving me a comment below!
