TUNE OF THE WEEK: Zico and CNBLUE

collage

You know that old saying, “when it rains it pours?” It’s a total cliché, I know, but it’s really the best way to describe the past week, especially in terms of new K-Pop releases. There have been so many great songs released over such a short period of time, it’s been impossible for me to choose a favorite. Of course I’m not going to complain about the deluge of great music because that would be stupid but it does make choosing a single tune to talk about rather difficult, which is why I’m going with two songs this week.

To be perfectly honest, limiting myself to just two songs has been hard but since I have something of a soft spot for both CNBLUE and Zico *ahem* I decided to stick with their latest releases for this week’s post. Since CNBLUE released their song first, let’s start there. I never thought I’d be squeeing over a song created specifically for product advertisement but CNBLUE’s “Feel Good” has me doing just that. (Dang it!) It’s such a fun, catchy track reminiscent of the group’s earlier work and well… How can I not love a song that reminds me of the early CNBLUE I fell in love with all those years ago?

I don’t care if the song was created to sell phones any more than I care that the video is a 4 minute advertisement. That’s 4 minutes I can spend swooning over CNBLUE and that’s good enough for me! Even better, there’s a promise for more to come which means I’ll have even more reasons to swoon over CNBLUE in the future. Woohoo! Yes, I have reached the level of hopeless fangirl but you know you’re right there with me! Or you will be soon… Muwahahahaha! (Don’t mind me, I’m running on a pot of coffee and an overwhelming rush of fangirl feels.)

To further prove my hopelessness as a fangirl, let’s move on to Zico’s new track, “I Am You, You Are Me,” shall we?

I don’t even know where to start with this one. It’s just… I just… *siiiiigh* Oh Zico!

Released this past Sunday, Zico’s “I Am You, You Are Me” is further proof Zico is trying to kill not just this zombie but all of his fans, with his sultry voice and sweet lyrics. Seriously! How are we supposed to put up any sort of a fight when he comes at us with lyrics that praise natural beauty and speak of destiny and love and kissing all night long and… Oh jeez! My heart! Help! I can’t deal with sweet, sincere Zico! It’s too much! And of course he has to SING as well as rap in this song which means there’s now nothing left of me but a puddle of melted fangirl goo…

Since it’s very hard to type when you’ve gone all gooey, I’m going to wrap this up here. Of course if you’d like to join me in my fangirling (or tell me I’m completely bonkers) feel free to leave me a comment below!
