This week has been crazy for me but even in all of the madness, I’ve managed to find a fantastic little ditty by up-and-coming rapper Zizo, that’s so much fun, it’ll have you boppin’ all summer long.
Zizo’s “Run” is one of those rare tunes that miraculously manages to embrace the very essence of summer with its catchy, reggae inspired beat and surf sound. Upon first listening, I was immediately reminded me of Michael Franti & Spearhead and since in my head the connection between Michael Franti and summer goes something like this: Michael Franti = beach music = beach = summer = 4th of July = tomorrow = let’s pick a fun summery song to celebrate the season = “Run” And now you know how I decided “Run” should be this week’s featured tune.
I suppose for those of you reading this who don’t immediately associate July 4th with summertime fun (and really, why would you unless you’re living in the U.S.) you can still appreciate the summery fun of Zizo’s “Run”, especially after watching the music video. It really is just a fun party on a train and it makes me think I need to take a trip somewhere soon, just to get away and have a little fun. (Hmmm… Maybe it’s time to take a little vacation…)
