ZOMBIE’S DRAMA REVIEW: Angel Eyes Episodes 13-14

making breakfast

You know, the truth has a funny way of revealing itself, especially when people want, more than anything, to keep it hidden which is exactly what happened in this week’s episodes of Angel Eyes which means we’ve got all kinds of drama to talk about! Are you ready?

why didn't you tell me

Last week we were left wondering if Soo Wan had accidentally uncovered the identity of her eye donor after digging through the box of clues that Min Soo had left for Dong Joo. It turns out that, while she didn’t immediately uncover the truth, she was filled with enough suspicion to do some digging of her own and that led her straight to Jung Hwa. Poor Soo Wan! I can’t help but feel bad for her as uncovering the truth like that had to be upsetting. It would have been so much easier for her to handle the truth had her father or Dong Joo had the courage to tell her in the first place but no, they had to be all, “Keeping the truth from her is for her own good.” Please! When has being lied to for years ever done anyone any good?

it was her wish

At least Dong Joo was there for Soo Wan as she tried to process the fact that she has Jung Hwa’s eyes. I’m not convinced Dong Joo was the most sensitive guy during the whole grieving process but he did try, in his own way. I suppose that in the long run, helping Soo Wan see the whole situation from Jung Hwa’s eyes was really for the best but it still felt a little cold to me. I guess that could just be because Dong Joo is in a lot of pain himself so he’s having a hard time processing so much at one time, but still I would have thought that a little more hugging and a little less lecturing would have been a better way to help Soo Wan cope with this particular truth.

overheard

As difficult as it was for Soo Wan to deal with the truth about her eyes, I have a feeling it’s going to pale in comparison to the difficulties that lie ahead. If she really did overhear all of Dong Joo and Jae Beom’s conversation, she’s going to be so hurt and confused and lost that she may end up doing something incredibly stupid and then where will we be? If the writers use this turn of events to separate Dong Joo and Soo Wan, I may have to start flipping tables. Urgh! The very thought makes me angry! Still, I have nothing to go on, as of yet and I could be working myself up for nothing but I just can’t shake the feeling that the next few episodes are going to be ridiculously painful for both the characters and us as viewers. As long as Soo Wan doesn’t go running back to Ji Woon, I’ll be okay but if she even looks at him the wrong way, things on my end are going to get ugly.

punk

Sorry but I just don’t like Ji Woon… AT ALL! I know that he’s not really a “bad” guy, more like the victim of unfortunate circumstances, and I’ve tried a thousand times over to give him the benefit of the doubt but every time I find myself thinking, “Oh, he’s not that bad,” he has to go and do something stupid which makes me hate him all over again. At first it was just his annoying clinging to Soo Wan that got to me but now it’s his stubborn refusal to accept the truth and his determination to make Dong Joo leave that’s really bothering me. Why can’t Ji Woon just accept the fact that Soo Wan doesn’t love him and move on? Why must second leads always cling hopelessly to a love that will never be their own? Why must Ji Woon be such a punk and constantly be a thorn in Dong Joo’s side? Why? Why? Why? I’m really hoping that the more involved Ji Woon gets in this whole messy situation, the more awful things will be for him when the truth about Jung Hwa is finally revealed. (I know, I’m awful.)

detectives getting close

Speaking of which… I have a feeling Min Soo and Woo Chul are very close to uncovering the truth about Jung Hwa’s “accident.” I know I’m just stating the obvious here, seeing as how Woo Chul very nearly went to meet his maker this week, but they’re on to something big and I’m dying to know what that witness told Min Soo over lunch. Oh please! Oh please let the truth be revealed soon! I want nothing more than to see Dr. Oh and her cohorts get what they deserve! They’re screwed up so many people’s lives in an effort to save their own and I think it’s high time justice was served! I would do a happy dance of joy if only I could see Dr. Oh and that dirty cop get carted off to jail. Oh, if only…

heartbroken teddy

With so much going on with the main story-line, it’s easy to overlook some of the lesser stories but I can’t end this review without talking about poor Teddy for just a minute. Ugh! The fact that Ellie is falling for Woon Chan breaks my heart and it’s not because I don’t think he’s a good guy. On the contrary, Woon Chan is a great guy, I was just really hoping that Ellie and Teddy would get together because Teddy likes her so darn much and I thought they would be really great together. I suppose there’s still hope for Teddy at this point, though he may not realize it himself. Ellie has spent most of her life without a father figure and I guess it makes sense that she would fall for someone who provides a sense of warmth and security but I don’t really see things working out for her the way she’s imagining. I think there’s a very real possibility that Ellie will let her feelings slip and Woon Chan will be forced to set her straight (because I don’t see him developing any feelings for Ellie beyond that of a father for a daughter) and when that happens, she’ll be in a much better position to accept Teddy’s comfort and affection. Of course I could be totally wrong here and Teddy could very well be out of luck but I guess if someone has to end up disappointed in love, it’s better that Teddy be the sacrificial lamb than Dong Joo and Soo Wan. Still, if I had my way, Teddy would get the girl he wants and Ji Woon would be the only person left alone and miserable in the end. (Again, I’m awful…)

uh oh teddy

Awful or otherwise, I’m sure I’m not the only one with thoughts and theories about what’s going on and what might happen in next week’s episodes of Angel Eyes and since I love talking dramas I’d love to hear what it is you’re thinking so be sure to leave me a comment below!
