So first of all, I need to apologize for dropping this drama review two weeks before the end of the show but the BTS concert, KCON, week of birthdays and spontaneous trip to visit my parents really threw me off my groove. That being said, I’m going to try to get this review wrapped up really quick so I can move on to other things. So, let’s talk about these crazy episodes, shall we?
One would think that with only two episodes now standing between us and the end, things would be wrapping up, however that doesn’t seem to be the case here. Sure things with Min Woo and Ji Sook have worked out but now she’s trying to leave him by faking her death? Not only that but she’s asking Suk Hoon to be the one to help her with that and well, that just seems like the worst idea on the face of the planet. Doesn’t it? I mean Suk Hoon has threatened to kill her since the very first episode so why wouldn’t he just go ahead and do that now? After all, that’s essentially what Ji Sook’s asked him to do! Crazy woman!
I don’t know why Ji Sook would place any sort of confidence in Suk Hoon but she has and it would seem like this may be the very last mistake she ever makes. After all, we’ve left her in a burning house with Min Woo way too far away to save her. Of course I’m still waiting for him to miraculously show up at the last-minute and rescue her because there’s just no way she’s actually going to die in this fire but this is not how I wanted things to go. Ji Sook and Min Woo were supposed to have enough evidence to convict Suk Hoon of murder and he was supposed to be taken out by the authorities. Instead he’s been brought back into the family house and he’s been absolved of all crimes by his insane wife. Why, drama gods? WHY!?!
I guess the simple answer to my cosmic question is because Mi Yeon is blindly in love with her husband but really, I think her mental health needs to be called into question here. Finding out she’s the reason Eun Ha is dead was a pretty serious blow for Mi Yeon and now she has to also deal with the fact she’s the reason Ji Sook’s mom is dead. I think that amount of stress is really starting to wear on Mi Yeon and it’s just easier for her to believe and go along with Suk Hoon’s lies than accept the truth of her reality. I mean if you can’t deal with your own reality, why not tune it out completely and start living in another? Hmmm… Maybe I should give this a try sometime… (Or not.)
With tension high at the Choi family house, it makes sense people would want to get away for a while but who, in their right mind, would think sending Suk Hoon, Mi Yeon, Min Woo and Ji Sook on an outing together? The fact Ji Sook is willing to go along with this ridiculous suggestion should (and did) tip Min Woo off to the fact his wife is up to something but even after so much suspicion was raised, he decides it’s a good idea to go along with this plan. And now his wife is on the verge of being burnt to a crisp and he has to overcome his worst fear if he’s going to save her. You know, it’s times like these I can’t really bring myself to feel sorry for our hero, even one as adorable as Min Woo. He knew something was wrong. He could have done any number of things to prevent this trip from happening. He could have done more to get the truth out of Ji Sook. He could have taken action against Suk Hoon and kept so much from happening. But he didn’t. Instead he blindly goes along with everyone else’s plans and now look at where we are! Suk Hoon is back to making threats against Ji Sook and her family. Mi Yeon is back to believing everything her husband says. Ji Sook is on the verge of death and Min Woo is once again rendered helpless. In essence, we’ve come full circle and unless something drastic happens soon, nothing good is going to come from this ending.
So where are things headed from here? I’m sure most of you already know but don’t tell me! I’m off to finish the last two episodes now. I’ll be back once I’ve finished and we can talk about how this story ends. I’m still hoping for a happy ending but I have a feeling there’s going to be a lot more crazy before we get there. If we get there. *sigh*
