ZOMBIE’S DRAMA REVIEW: Sensory Couple Episode 15-16

wedding

I don’t know how this ending managed to sneak up on me but it did and I have to say, as far as endings go, this one was pretty good. It’s never fun to say goodbye to a drama you’ve been enjoying but at least this one left us with a satisfying sense of closure. Of course before we say goodbye, we have two rather exciting episodes to talk about so let’s get to it!

arrested

We left off last week with Moo Gak pointing a gun at Jae Hee’s head through the window and immediately we and Jae Hee knew that the gig was up. While Detective Ye carried Lieutenant Yeom to safety, Moo Gak went after Jae Hee who had decided making a run for it was pretty much his only chance for survival. It came as a surprise to no one that, with Moo Gak hot on his heels, Jae Hee’s plan failed miserably. What I was surprised by was Moo Gak’s ability to discern between what he had to do and what he wanted to do as well as his incredible self-control. Moo Gak’s intentions to kill the man who killed his sister have been clear from the very beginning so I found it rather amazing that when his chance finally came, Moo Gak practiced restraint and followed protocol rather than going for revenge. I guess this goes to show you what true love does for a person. Moo Gak is an intelligent man and he knows that while killing Jae Hee might make him feel better it would ruin any chance of happiness he might have with Cho Rim. Being the good man that he is, Moo Gak fires that warning shot before shooting Jae Hee and all is right with the world. Or it should be…

kidnapped

The funny thing about having your serial killer arrested in the next to last episode is that you know he’s not going to stay safely locked away from the world for long. It’s really a no-brainer so it didn’t take me at all by surprise when Jae Hee’s transport vehicle has an “accident” and he’s mysteriously never found. It also wasn’t surprising to see Jae Hee show up at Moo Gak and Cho Rim’s wedding, nor was it surprising that she was kidnapped by him. Some things are just bound to happen and a Moo Gak/Jae Hee showdown is on that list, I’m just sad that our once glorious villain was reduced to such crude and petty means for revenge. I mean after all these years of meticulous planning and precision killing, resorting to a kidnapping and a poorly hidden bomb just didn’t seem to live up to Jae Hee’s usual standards. I guess this is what happens when a good villain gets desperate. Jae Hee got too caught up in his need for revenge and the end result was well… Fatal. I can’t say I’m sorry to see Jae Hee go but I will miss his workout sessions…

honeymoon

While Jae Hee fails to live happily ever after… Okay, he just plain fails to live… The rest of our beloved characters do manage to find a way to get past the horrors inflicted by Jae Hee and move on with their lives and that makes me happy. I was happy to see Lt. Yeom take a job as a professor and even happier that Moo Gak went back to civilian life but that happy, easy life didn’t really last for long. I guess when you’ve got a good team and a good thing going, it’s hard to walk away which has to be why Lt. Yeom became the head of this new team. Naturally this new team is going to consist of everyone we already know and love and my only qualm with this whole thing is Moo Gak and Cho Rim’s inability to enjoy a well-deserved honeymoon. I mean after being kidnapped and nearly blown to bits, you’d think their “friends” would give these two enough of a break to enjoy some quality time together before throwing them back into the fray but no. Our poor OTP is reduced to an afternoon bike ride for a honeymoon and that’s just all kinds of sad. Still, they seem happy so I have no choice but to be happy for them.

Proposal

As far as endings go, this one was pretty good. It had a nice mix of sweet and sappy but they were balanced out with a nice dose of suspense and terror. Okay, so maybe it wasn’t all that suspenseful nor terrifying, I mean Jae Hee was nothing but predictable, but it was a nice effort and I can appreciate it even if it didn’t have me sitting on the edge of my seat. I can also appreciate the satisfaction of a villain actually getting what he deserves, which doesn’t happen nearly as often as it should. And I can appreciate the sweetness, sincerity and originality of Moo Gak’s proposal which, I have to admit, had me sighing and swooning like the sappy fangirl that I am.

happy ending

So tell me, what did you think of these final two episodes? Were you as satisfied with the ending as I was or would you have rather seen things play out differently? You know I always love hearing from you so be sure to let me know what you’re thinking by leaving me a comment below!
