ZOMBIE’S JAMS OF 2014

2

Jimin may be accused of having no jams but I’ve got them in spades so I thought it’d be fun to share with you my top jams of 2014 because why not? We’ve all got songs we could listen to on repeat for forever and as sucky as this past year was in a lot of ways, it still brought with it a ton of fabulous tunes. (Which may not make up for the parts of the year that sucked but it certainly made dealing with the sucky a bit easier.) So here are the artists, albums and tunes that brightened my 2014…

B1A4

“Lonely”

I fell in love with this song the moment it was released. It’s beautiful, it’s catchy and no matter how many times I listen to it, it stirs my soul. I absolutely love this song and every time I listen to it these adorable boys, dancing in their adorable school boy outfits at KCON, come to mind. How can you beat that?

“Solo Day”

This song has so many amazing memories associated with it that even if it sucked it’d still make the list but we all know this song is anything but sucky. It’s catchy, it’s fun, it’s adorable and I can’t help but smile and sigh when it starts to play. It makes me long for the warm, sunny beaches of California and the friends that made my time there unforgettable. Ugh! Is it time to go back yet? KCON 2015, HERE I COME! *fingers crossed*

B.A.P

“1004”

“Bang X2”

“Spy”

Honestly, I could list every single song from First Sensibility but these are the three that really stand out to me. I absolutely love the diversity of this album and it doesn’t hurt that so many amazing memories are associated with both this album and this band. Yes, I spent an entire night squeeing with friends after seeing B.A.P live and spent the next day fueled by nothing more than fangirl feels and coffee but that was more than enough for me. What can I say? B.A.P is life!

BTS

Skool Luv Affair

Dark and Wild

Not gonna lie, when BTS released “Boy in Luv” early last year, I didn’t have a clue who they were but I fell so madly in love with the song that I quickly started doing my homework. Eleven months later, here I sit, so ridiculously addicted to BTS I can’t believe there was actually a time when I didn’t know who these insanely talented boys were. What was I thinking!?! How did I ever survive without them? I have no idea but BTS is one of the groups that definitely made 2014 worth living.

CNBLUE

“Can’t Stop”

“Cold Love”

There really isn’t a single song on the Can’t Stop album that I don’t love but these two are my jams. I could listen to “Cold Love” for forever and a day and it would still give me chills. It’s the perfect power ballad, the kind you want to blast through your car stereo as you drive around town with the windows down as you attempt to sing along. It’s perfection in musical form and I love it! (Bet you never would have guessed that!)

Ugly Pumpkin

“From Yesterday”

This feel-good song is the epitome of adorableness and it’s my go-to song whenever I need a little dose of warm-fuzzies. It’s such a sweet little song, sung by a trio of adorable boys and I can’t help but smile every time this song plays. It’s just so cute!

Megan Lee

“8dayz”

In keeping with the adorable, Megan Lee’s debut single “8dayz” is so flipping adorable, I couldn’t help but love it. It’s just so sweet and catchy it became an instant hit at my house. Of course the fact that Yong Jun Hyung makes a guest appearance doesn’t hurt anything. I know, I shouldn’t let my love of Jun Hyung cloud  my judgment but it does. Often.

EXO

Overdose

“Overdose” was another song I fell in love with the  moment it was released. There’s just something about the way that song grooves that captivates me. I’ve listened to this song more times than I can count and I’m still in awe with the way it makes me feel. I could jam to this song for days on end and never tire of it. Oh wait, I’ve already done that! Of course there’s more than “Overdose” to love on EXO’s mini album, namely “Moonlight” and “Thunder.” I’m just… These song are just… Yeah… *swoon*

Taeyang

Rise

If I had to pick just one album to be my all-time favorite of 2014, this would be it. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to Rise and how many times I’ve tried (and failed miserably) to sing along. I love absolutely every single song on this album and I’m hopelessly addicted to the entire thing. I think “Stay With Me” may be my favorite but every time I listen to “This Ain’t It”, “Let Go” or “Love You to Death” I’m convinced they’re my favorite. Of course, we can’t forget “Ringa Linga” or “Eyes, Nose, Lips” and then there’s “1 AM” and “Body” heck, even the intro “Rise” is amazing. Basically the entire album blows me away so there you go.

Taeyang x G-Dragon

“Good Boy”

You know if I’m spazzing about Taeyang, I’m going to be spazzing about GD as well because I’ve made it abundantly clear that I’m in love with their latest collaboration. I can’t help myself. There’s something about the combined talent of GD and Taeyang that’s nothing short of magic and I’ll love this song to the very end of time.

GOT7

Got It?

Got Love

Identify

Never, in all my years, have I been so head-over-heels over a rookie group like I am for GOT7. I’m so ridiculously in love with these boys it’s not even funny. I tried to pick out a handful of songs that I love more than the rest but I’ve come to realize that task is simply impossible. From the moment GOT7 debuted with “Girls Girls Girls” I’ve been so hopelessly lost on these boys that they’ve yet to disappoint me with their music. I’ve had all of their albums on constant repeat for weeks now (along with VIXX and BTS… It’s my ultimate bias playlist!) and I still can’t get enough. Oh GOT7! What have you done to me?

K.Will and MAMAMOO

“Peppermint Chocolate”

“Mr. Ambiguous”

“Piano Man”

When MAMAMOO made their appearance in with Wheesung in K.Will’s “Peppermint Chocolate” I was intrigued by their performance and I wondered… Could this be the girl group I’d been waiting for? Turns out they were exactly the group I’d been waiting for and I’ve been a MAMAMOO fangirl ever since. Their songs are always so groovy, I can’t help but love them. (Of course it doesn’t hurt that they keep featuring members of my favorite boy bands in their music videos. Just saying…)

Lyn x Leo

“Blossom Tears”

Every time I want to die I play this song and my immediately feels like it’s being ripped out of my chest. Never in the history of the world has a song killed me a much as this collaboration between Lyn and VIXX’s Leo. Good gracious! Both artists have such incredible vocals but when you put them together the result is out of this world. I’ve been sobbing over this song for months and I’m not going to stop any time soon. See what happens when you have an ultimate bias kids? You die a thousand slow and painful deaths and then you replay the song a do it all over again.

Taemin

Ace

Taemin’s solo album has mesmerized me for months and I’m as hopelessly addicted to it now as I was when I first bought it. There’s something to be said for a jam so smooth and sexy it makes me melt and Taemin has proven himself the king  with this album as every flipping song on the entire flipping album reduces me to a puddle of fangirl goo.

VIXX

Eternity

Error

Oh, c’mon now! You didn’t think I’d be able to make a list like this without listing VIXX, did you? Please! We all know there’s not a group out there that I love more than VIXX and 2014 was an incredible year for them. I spazzed so hard when VIXX released Eternity back in May, I thought I’d died and gone to Starlight heaven. Immediately “Eternity” became the number one song on my iPod and the song I used to motivate myself every time I set out on a run. (It still is, actually.) But Eternity was only the beginning in an unbelievable procession of VIXX dreams come true for me. Not only did VIXX grant my every wish by making a comeback in May, they also deigned to appear at KCON, making it possible for me to see them live for the first time ever. If that wasn’t enough to kill my inner Starlight, not two months later, VIXX made a second comeback with Error and my poor heart stopped beating altogether. Holy flip! I was certain there was no way in the world my feels for VIXX could ever get any stronger but I was wrong. Just over a month after VIXX released Error they appeared in my city, performing all my favorite songs, and I was four rows back, dying a hundred thousand, zillion, trillion times over and then I met them and yeah… I have yet to recover.

So there you have it, my list of jams from 2014. As you can see, there’s a lot of music out there that I love and there’s so many more I could mention but these are the jams that made 2014 an amazing year, at least when it came to music. I’d still like to punch the year itself in the face but at least I had a long list of tunes to get me through. Of course I can’t wrap this up without asking which tunes you found yourself jamming to this past year. I’d love to know so be sure to leave me a comment below!

  1. I totally agree about GOT7. I became a fan of them super quickly too. And yessss VIXX had an amazing year.

My top 5 songs this year were :
    1. MBLAQ – Be a Man (That whole album is amazing)
    2. BEAST – Good Luck
    3. Song Ji Eun – Don’t Look At Me Like That
    4. GD & Taeyang – Good Boy
    5. Super Junior – Evanesce

    1. Those are a fantastic top 5! BEAST had a great year this year and I’m kinda surprised they didn’t make my list. I guess I got a little too caught up in my BTS, GOT7, VIXX obsession. Haha. It really was such an amazing year in music, it’s so hard to narrow things down which is probably why I ended up listing entire albums instead of individual songs. Here’s hoping 2015 brings us even more amazing tunes! *fingers crossed*
