ZOMBIE’S T-DRAMA REVIEW: Someone Like You Episode 14

afraid of the dark

Oh my goodness! Do you remember how excited we were last week, when we watched Zhan Cheng and Yu Xi get together? Do you remember how happy we were for them and how we all hoped to see more of their cute, happy moments together in the future? Well guess what! That’s EXACTLY what we got this week and you know what? It’s every bit as wonderful as we hoped it would be! *siiiiiiigh*

sad mama

Okay, to be fair, this week’s episode had more than just a bunch of Zhan Cheng/Yu Xi squishy moments so let’s talk about those for a bit (before I get completely carried away in my blissful OTP feels), shall we? Picking up where we left off last week, Yu Xi happened to stumble across an old photograph of Luo Han, Zhan Cheng and William that just happened to be taken on her birthday and, of course, this starts Yu Xi wondering. If she and Luo Han have the same birthday and  they look so much alike, is it possible they’re actually related? Of course we already know the answer to this question but it’s one Yu Xi had to ask for herself and more importantly, she had to decide if she really wanted to know the answer. I’m happy that Yu Xi finally knows the truth about Luo Han but I can’t say I’m really thrilled about the way she went about getting there. I mean get that Yu Xi doesn’t want to upset her mom in any way and I love her for being so thoughtful but at the same time, it’s an important issue to discuss and I don’t see how it would hurt for Yu Xi and her mom to sit down and have a good, old-fashioned heart-to-heart about this. Neither one of them are going to be mean or spiteful about the fact Yu Xi was adopted and I’m convinced this discussion would only make the bond between these two stronger. (If that’s even possible… These two have an incredible mother/daughter relationship and I honestly love that, it gives me something to aspire to with my own daughters.) I’m not really digging the whole, “she’s not talking about it so I’m not gonna bring it up” thing. These two have a special relationship and they need to talk about this at some point so why avoid it? Let’s just get all of this out in the open so we can deal with it and move on!

always be a stone

The good news in all of this Luo Han business is knowing that even if Yu Xi and her mom can’t talk about the truth, Yu Xi and Zhan Cheng most definitely can. If there’s one thing I love, it’s an OTP that’s open and honest about everything they’re dealing with and these two are so good about this, I just wanna hug them both! I have to say, I’m incredibly impressed by Yu Xi and the way she handled the truth about Luo Han. It’s obvious it wasn’t an easy thing for her to deal with but she didn’t overreact or do anything stupid. She simply asked for some space so she could process things on her own, which she was granted, and as a result, she came to a very mature and rational conclusion on her own and all I can say is HOORAY! Too many times, in dramas, the heroine finds herself caught up in a moment of emotional irrationality and ends up doing something stupid that hurts both herself and everyone else but not this time! Nope, this time Yu Xi takes everything as it comes, gives it all a good, long thought and then moves on with her life, adapting as she needs to, to accept whatever challenge has come her way. In this case, it’s accepting that she’s adopted and that she had a twin sister who just happened to be her boyfriend’s ex-fiance which, admittedly, is a lot to deal with but Yu Xi takes it all in stride and becomes a stronger person for it. What made this whole truth thing better was watching Yu Xi and Zhan Cheng address the whole, “am I Luo Han’s substitute” thing. I know it’s something we’ve all talked about before but it wasn’t something Yu Xi and Zhan Cheng talked about together. Now that they have, it feels like they’ve cleared the air around them and are now free to enjoy this relationship to its fullest.

kiss

That being said, when Yu Xi made Zhan Cheng promise that he would always tell Yu Xi the truth, no matter how difficult it may be, I knew something would eventually come up that would test Zhan Cheng’s word and, of course, it did. When Zhan Cheng finally came to the conclusion that Ya Ti has Luo Han’s heart, I wondered, for just a second, if he was going to keep this from Yu Xi. Not gonna lie, I breathed a huge sigh of relief when he pulled Yu Xi aside and told her everything. Zhan Cheng is such an honorable man, I should have never doubted him but this is Drama Land we’re talking about here and heroes have been known to go back on their word, from time to time. Thank goodness Zhan Cheng isn’t one of them! By telling Yu Xi everything, now these two can face this new challenge together and if it doesn’t drive them apart, it will bring them that much closer. (Not that I want these two to separate, it’s just that I can’t shake this nagging feeling that something awful is going to happen to my beloved OTP. I blame it on watching one too many dramas.) I’m not sure how this new development is going to affect Zhan Cheng and Yu Xi but I hope it doesn’t cause any permanent damage. I’m having too much fun watching these two be adorable together and that kiss… WHEW! Now that’s how a drama kiss should be done!

keep dreaming Fei Fei

While Zhan Cheng and Yu Xi are busy raising the standard for drama kisses the world over, Fei Fei and Yu An are on the completely opposite end of the spectrum and I seriously have to fight off the urge to pound my head through a wall as I watch them together. Fei Fei needs to get it through her head that she cannot fall for a priest and expect him to reciprocate her feelings! Yu An made a vow to GOD which means it’s a vow he holds very dear and takes very seriously. This wasn’t something he did on a whim and it’s not a vow he’s going to back out on just because Fei Fei harbors a crush on him. I know it’s taken Yu An way too long to figure out Fei Fei’s feelings but now that he gets it, he needs to make sure Fei Fei understands they can be friends but she can’t expect them to be anything more. I do have to say, I think the way Yu An told Fei Fei to, essentially, back off, was a bit harsh. He could have employed a bit more tact when he told her he wouldn’t be able to return her feelings but he didn’t and I shouldn’t really expect him to because he’s Yu An and he’s not really the sharpest tool in the shed. Adorable? Sure. Quick? Not so much. I guess the upside to all this is at least Fei Fei knows Yu An isn’t interested and she can now move on with her life. (Not that I really expect her to, it’d just be nice if she did. *whispers* Go find a man who isn’t completely out of reach!)

i love you love me

To be perfectly honest, I could sit here and squee over all of the adorable moments in this week’s episode but I think I’ve rambled on long enough. To say I’m happy with the way things are developing between our OTP would be an understatement. These two are making me so insanely happy right now, I could sit here and watch them in all of their lovey-dovey bliss for the rest of forever. *sigh* Oh if only that could happen! (Maybe if Ya Ti took a wrong turn and accidentally fell off a cliff… Oops! Did I say that out loud?) Between Ya Ti and Bo Yan, I think our OTP still has some storms to weather but I have faith that they’ll come out the other side, stronger than ever. They just seem to be those kind of people. In the meantime, I’ll sit here and enjoy the happy moments as they come and hope for the best. Of course, if you’d like to squee with me, you’re more than welcome. After all, dramas are always better when you’ve got someone to share them with so be sure to let me know what you’re thinking about this episode, our OTP, or anything else, for that matter, by leaving me a comment below!

  1. The last two episodes have been full of sweetness. I’m crossing my fingers that this will continue till the end of the drama but since it is still around 6 episodes left I’m worried that things will come in-between Zhan Cheng and Yu Xi as it usually does in dramas. But so far I like how these two have been very honest with each other and how they have handled the problems together. The bowling scene and the kitchen scene with Yu Xi’s eyes never leaving Zhan Cheng shows how happily in love she is right now. I like their first kiss too 🙂 What I think kind of kills their sweetness is how she still calls him Lao Ban (Boss). When is she going to start calling him by his name instead?

    1. You know, I’m wondering the exact same thing. I know it’s a name she’s used to using but it’s time to move on and call him by his actual name at least a term of endearment. Anything would be better than “boss”.

  2. That kiss……HOT!!!!!!!!!!! -end of comment-

Kidding Aside, After watching episode 14 I’m not really certain how things would unfold from hereon. This drama exacted its revenge on me coz I’ve previously made comments of it being engaging but more on the predictable side, and now I’m eating my words.

And Fei Fei during her talk with Yu Xi, she’s still very immature. Yu An being upfront with her, was for her own well-being which hopefully she’d realise sooner.
